Veterans Day Ceremonies
Veterans can pay only 25 cents Tuesday for a guided walking tour of the U.S. Naval Academy. is charging veterans only “two bits” – or 25 cents -- for a guided walking tour on Veterans Day. Veterans must show military identification or a copy of their DD214 to receive the discount. Call the USNA Visitor Center at 410-293-8687 for tour times.

The Fleet Reserve Association Annapolis Chapter 24 will host a ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Circle at City Dock in Annapolis, reports the Capital-Gazette. Veterans service organizations and fire and police personnel will parade the colors and the Jolly Rogers will perform. There will be a 21-gun salute and “Taps” will be performed. American Legion Cook-Pinkney Post 141 is sponsoring a program at 11 a.m. at the Maryland World War II Memorial, 1919 Ritchie Highway in Annapolis, the newspaper says. Guest speaker is Ret. Col. Edward C. Rothstein, past-Post Commander of Fort George G. Meade. A lunch will follow the program at the post hall at 1707 Forest Drive, Annapolis. For details, call 443-790-3805.
The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs and the United Veterans of Anne Arundel County will sponsor a ceremony at 11 a.m at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road in Crownsville, the newspaper says. Music will be performed by Maryland Defense Force Band and guest vocalist retired Col. Charles E. Thomann, MaryAnn Evangelista and Shelia Raynor-Frazier. For details, call 301-395-0176.

City of Annapolis government offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, for the holiday.
Garbage and recycling pickup will not be affected.
