Water Advisory For Carr Creek Issued After Sewage Overflow
Anne Arundel County Health officials are warning people to stay out of Carr Creek in the Annapolis area because of sewage overflow.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Residents are being warned not to swim, kayak or paddle board in Carr Creek near Annapolis. The Anne Arundel County Department of Health issued the advisory Monday afternoon following a wastewater overflow of about 6,250 gallons. The spill occurred Monday morning at the Naval Support Activity Annapolis – North Severn wastewater treatment plant.
Health officials say the advisory is for the entire creek and will remain in effect until Sunday, March 25.
The Anne Arundel County of Department of Health warns people who come in contact with the water to wash well with soap and warm water immediately afterward. Clothing should also be washed.

There is no restriction on fishing or on general boating activities. Cooking can kill bacteria and viruses, and it is generally OK to eat fish taken from areas closed to swimming as long as they are handled properly, the health department says.
