Weather Message from Anne Arundel County Schools

Anne Arundel County Public Schools amend plans on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Public schools and school offices in Anne Arundel County will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

“Code red” is in effect for employees, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools officials. That means these employees should report at the discretion of the supervisors:

  • All Logistics Support, Operations, and Maintenance Unit III (AFSCME) employees;
  • All 12-month Unit III (ASFCME) Bus Maintenance employees.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Anne Arundel County until 10 a.m. with up to 0.25-inch ice possible from freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service, which said slippery roads were in the forecast until temps rise to the lower 30s Tuesday morning.

The Maryland State Highway Administration advised there were isolated icy patches on roads, particularly on elevated surfaces, and state transportation officials recommended delaying travel plans.

All schools and offices will be closed today due to inclement weather. A Code Red is in effect for employees. Unit III personnel must report to their work locations as required.
