Website Down While Upgrades Being Made To MD Park Service Site

Once the new version is installed, the reservation site will be mobile-responsive, adjust to any screen size and features a more modern look

MARYLAND — Fans of camping and those who utilize the state's many department of natural resources amenities should be aware that the Maryland Park Service's online reservation system will be unavailable Feb. 6-12 while it is upgraded. The goal is to add features that will make it easier for customers and park staff to use. The new version will be available Feb. 13.

The updates will not affect customers’ existing reservations, account information or history either. The online reservation system on the Maryland Department of Natural Resources website is used by customers to reserve campsites, cabins, pavilions and other amenities at dozens of parks around the state. Once the new version is installed, the reservation site will be mobile-responsive, adjust to any screen size and features a more modern look and feel.

“This is a welcome leap forward in park reservation technology that will make the booking experience much easier and more intuitive for park visitors,” Maryland Park Service Superintendent Nita Settina said in a statement.

During the scheduled outage, no new reservations, changes or cancellations can be made, either through the website or the call center. However, park staff can provide walk-in permits for same-day arrivals where campgrounds are open and available. Before they can access their accounts, customers will be asked to change their password once the new reservation system is accessible online. All customers who have made a reservation within the past few years will receive an email with instructions on how to reset their password and access the system.
