Wegmans, Aldi, Giant: MD New Year's 2021 Grocery Store Hours

MARYLAND — The New Year's is here as residents look forward to a year that hopefully is less dominated by the coronavirus pandemic.

While a surge in cases spurred by the fast-spreading omicron variant may cause some to rethink their New Year's plans, others still may choose to go the extra mile to say goodbye to 2021 and ring in what they hope will be a better year to come.

While New Year's Day typically doesn't carry the culinary fanfare boasted by Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's a perfect excuse to host a festive brunch with your vaccinated friends or throw together a tasty New Year's Day lunch for your family.

If you forgot the key ingredient for your famous quiche or simply need extra orange juice for mimosas, many grocery stores in Maryland will be open for the food and drinks you may have forgotten.

Here are the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day hours for the grocery stores in the region:

Aldi: Stores will be open New Year's Eve, but hours will vary by location. Stores will be closed on New Year's Day.

BJ's Wholesale Club: Stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Costco: Stores will be open until 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve and will be closed on New Year's Day.

Eddie's Market: The Roland Park stores — on North Charles Street and Roland Avenue — will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day. The Mt. Vernon location will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day.

Food Lion: Most Food Lion stores are open New Year's Day. Call ahead to confirm hours.

The Fresh Market: Stores will close at 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All stores are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day.

Giant Food: Stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve and reopen for regular hours on New Year's Day. Call ahead to confirm hours.

Harris Teeter: Stores will be open regular hours.

Lidl: Stores will close at 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve and will be closed on New Year's Day.
