ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of Maryland, including Anne Arundel County. A winter weather advisory means snow will cause travel difficulties, covering roads and reducing visibility.

The advisory calls for a wintry mix of light rain and snow Tuesday morning turning to all snow in the afternoon. With the precipitation moving from northwest to southeast, timing for the storm is different in the larger Baltimore region on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Anne Arundel County is under a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. to midnight; about 1 to 2 inches of snow are expected.

Wind chills are expected to stay below zero from Tuesday night through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

With nighttime temps dropping below freezing, any moisture or slush will freeze on untreated surfaces, according to the advisory. Drivers should use caution.

State highway officials say that crews will be aggressively patrolling for icy spots.

Drivers should keep in mind that elevated areas like bridges, ramps and overpasses freeze first.
