Yoga Studio, Athletic Club Thefts Are Preventable: Police

Two yoga class attendees in Annapolis were stolen from Wednesday, police say. They warn citizens to secure all valuables.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Annapolis Police Department said there were two thefts from separate yoga studios on West Street Wednesday, July 18. Two wallets were stolen and credit cards were used shortly after, police said in a release.

Police said in one case, the suspect, a man, entered the studio and asked about massage services. The other time, police say, a man "went so far as to sign into a class before committing the theft and leaving."

It is unknown if the thefts were committed by the same man.

Police said thefts are "occasional" in fitness clubs and yoga studios around the city. "Usually these thefts occur when items are left in unlocked lockers or other unsecured areas," police said.

Police warn citizens going to athletic clubs to bring a lock to secure valuables. If there are no locks in the facility, police say, then leave your valuables in the trunk of your locked car.
