AACPS Mental Health Task Force Meets Sept. 13

Anne Arundel County Public Schools mental health task force will meet Sept. 13 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the board room of the Parham Blgd.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Anne Arundel County Public Schools mental health task force will meet for the first time Friday, Sept. 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the board room of the Parham Building, 2544 Riva Rd., Annapolis.

The task force created by the board of education and jointly chaired by school system and county staff members has been charged with examining ways to continue to address the social and emotional needs of children. Members of the task force include students, parents, community groups, mental health experts and county and school system representatives. Ryan Voegtlin, AACPS’ director of student services, and Adrienne Mickler, executive director of the Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency, will co-chair the task force.

The task force’s specific goals are to:

  • identify contributing factors to the increasing mental health needs of our children.
  • better coordinate services and communication between and among the school system, county government and service providers.
  • identify proactive measures and best practices.
  • make recommendations for improved delivery of services to children and families.

No public testimony will be taken at the meeting.
