Anne Arundel County Hits 5,000 Coronavirus Cases, Check Your ZIP

Anne Arundel County now has more than 5,000 coronavirus cases. See how many your ZIP code has.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County eclipsed 5,000 coronavirus cases on Friday, the Maryland Department of Health reported. The county has confirmed 5,005 cases of the virus, and 195 people have died from coronavirus in Anne Arundel County.

Anne Arundel County has the fifth most confirmed coronavirus cases in the state, according to the latest data from the Maryland Department of Health. Prince George's County has the most cases, with 18,307. Montgomery County's 14,471 cases give it the second-most cases.

Baltimore County and Baltimore City round out the top four, respectively. Both have more than 7,000 cases of coronavirus.

More than 9.6 million people around the world have been infected by coronavirus. Global deaths from the virus total more than 490,000, according to Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, almost 2.4 million people have been infected and more than 124,000 have died from coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises doing the following to slow the spread of coronavirus:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If this is not available, use hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Keep 6 feet of space between people.
  • Stay home.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

The CDC lists these as symptoms of coronavirus:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
