Arundel High School Alumni Group on Facebook

A Community With Roots

A very large and active community in Anne Arundel County is the Arundel High School Alumni Group on Facebook. The group's membership as of this date- is about 5.2k.

At one time, Arundel High School was one of the largest high schools in Maryland and the group reflects that strong history.

Notable events associated with the group:

  • Group first online- November 12, 2008.
  • Became a private group in 2019 after a salacious news item about a former student. The group became the target of inquisitive media research. At the time, several members requested the private group designation because of the media glare.
  • Reached 5k membership milestone in 2020 (Facebook groups with 5k or more members automatically become private groups).

Group features include “Where are they now?” posts about former students who have gone on to make news after leaving Arundel, obituaries, events related to school alumni activities, and shoutouts.

Although activities related to the current student body of Arundel are monitored, the group does not actively promote current school activities, unless noted through area media outlets. All students, both current and past, are welcome as members of the group.
