Chronic Disease Management Workshops Held Across The County

Anne Arundel County residents living with chronic diseases can attend lifestyle workshops in Pasadena, Odenton and Edgewater.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – A series of workshops designed to help individuals with chronic disease manage their illness will be held this summer in various communities located across Anne Arundel County. The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is hosting the Living Well Program that is open to adults age 18 and older.

Living Well with Hypertension will be held at the Edgewater Library located at 25 Stepney Lane, Edgewater, on Tuesday, June 4, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This workshop is available to people who have been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) and want to learn how to better manage their condition.

Living Well with Diabetes is a workshop designed for people with prediabetes, Type 1 and 2 diabetes and/or their caregivers to help manage diabetes. This workshop will be held at the Edgewater Library every Tuesday from June 11 to July 16 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and at the O'Malley Senior Activity Center located at 1275 Odenton Road, Odenton, every Thursday from July 11 to Aug. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It also will be held this fall every Tuesday from Sept. 3 to Oct. 8 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Giant Grocery Store located at 6626 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. The six-week workshop will teach participants how to manage blood sugar levels, count carbohydrates, read nutrition labels, and communicate with their health care providers, family members and friends.

Living Well Chronic Conditions will be held at Pasadena Senior Activity Center located at 4103 Mountain Road, Pasadena, every Monday from July 8 to Aug. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The workshop is available to people who have been diagnosed with any chronic condition such as arthritis, chronic pain, COPD, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, prediabetes or any other chronic condition.

All workshops are presented at no cost to the community by the Living Well Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, but registration is required.
