Community Encouraged To Attend Opioid Overdose Reversal Training
Anne Arundel County health officials invite anyone to attend training on how to use intranasal naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Anne Arundel County Department of Health will be offering free training to community members on how to use intranasal naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose and prevent death. Trainees will receive a free naloxone nasal kit to administer to victims of opioid overdose, too.
County health officials suggest that family members, friends and associates of someone using and at risk of overdosing on heroin or prescription pain medications attend the training, along with at-risk individuals themselves. Teens younger than 18 may participate in the training if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Anyone who works with the public, along with staff and volunteers at treatment programs, recovery services and transitional housing, are encouraged to participate, too.
Attendees will learn what an opioid is; how to recognize, respond to and prevent an opioid overdose; how to administer the naloxone intranasally; and obtain information about the Good Samaritan Law, treatment and recovery services, and family support.
