Drunk Driving Suspected Cause Of Fatal Pasadena Crash: Police

Anne Arundel County Police believe a driver was drunk and speeding when her car went off a road, killing a passenger from Pasadena.

PASADENA, MD — Anne Arundel County Police believe a woman was drunk and speeding when her car went off a road, killing a passenger from Pasadena. The accident happened about 8 p.m. Friday on Pinehurst Road near Oakdale Road in Pasadena. Investigators say a 2013 Honda Civic was northbound on Pinehurst Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, the car left the road, and struck a tree.

All three occupants were taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment. The driver — Emily C. Teare, 21, of the 1800 block of Wharf Creek Court in Pasadena — and front-seat passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The injured passenger is Sara P. Marquardt, 23, of the 900 block of Forest Terrace in Annapolis.

Rear-seat passenger Hannah L. Dilda, 21, of the 8400 block of Bussenius Road in Pasadena, died from her injuries while being treated at Shock Trauma.

The primary cause of the crash is excessive speed, while alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and charges, if any, will be after review by the State’s Attorney.
