Emergency Simulated Oct. 10 At Anne Arundel Community College

Police, fire and other emergency responders from across Anne Arundel County will simulate an emergency Oct. 10 at the community college.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — If you see a swarm of emergency officials Wednesday morning at Anne Arundel Community College, don't be alarmed. It's just a drill. Police, fire and other emergency responders from across the county will simulate an emergency Oct. 10 at the college.

The Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management is sponsoring a live, full-scale emergency exercise at the college from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday. According to a news release, the exercise will simulate an emergency incident at the college so authorities an assess their capabilities, with a focus on coordination of decision making, information sharing, and resource management among the agencies.

Agencies taking part in the exercise are the Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management, Anne Arundel County Department of Health, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works, the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office, the Anne Arundel Community College Department of Public Safety and Police, the Anne Arundel Community College Central Services, and volunteers from the Anne Arundel Annapolis Community Emergency Response Team, Maryland Responds, and the Anne Arundel Amateur Emergency Radio Service.

Visitors to the college may see fire engines and trucks, police vehicles, and other emergency vehicles on the campus, especially near the college Central Services Building, the news release said.
