Gambrills Sex Offender Raped 12-Year-Old Girl Known To Family: Judge
A man raped a 12-year-old girl known to his family, a judge ruled. Prosecutors called it "shocking and disturbing."

GAMBRILLS, MD — An Anne Arundel County man registered as a sex offender was found guilty Friday of raping a 12-year-old girl known to his family, prosecutors said.
The state's attorney said Christopher Steven McGee, 35, of Gambrills, was found guilty of second-degree rape. He was accused of cultivating an ongoing sexual relationship with the victim.
Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Pamela K. Alban reached her verdict following a three-day bench trial that began on Tuesday.

Alban scheduled sentencing for Sept. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
"This defendant’s behavior is both shocking and disturbing in how he manipulated a young, vulnerable girl to believe that they were in love," State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in a press release. "It is particularly concerning because he molested another 12-year-old girl in Texas. His prison time and registration as a sex offender apparently did not deter him from re-offending. The state will be seeking a significant prison term at his sentencing."

The Anne Arundel County Police Department launched a child sex abuse investigation involving McGee, then 34, in December 2023.
The prosecution alleged that McGee groomed and manipulated the girl to convince her to engage in a relationship with him.
Detectives obtained a photograph of him kissing the child and explicit social media communications, the press release said.
The release said investigators also found a nude photograph of the defendant in the victim's possession.
Assistant State's Attorney Sean Fox prosecuted the case. Anne Arundel County Police Department Detective Katerina Brummitt and Child Protective Services conducted the investigation.
