Little Free Pantry Pops Up In Pasadena During Coronavirus
Caring Cupboard also will be distributing food boxes to students at Hilltop Elementary School from noon to 12:30 p.m. April 11 and April 18.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — As more and more people are laid off from their jobs due to the new coronavirus pandemic, families and individuals are finding themselves food insecure. Caring Cupboard, a local food pantry, has expanded its reach in the community to help these people out.
The organization has installed a new Little Free Pantry at 359 Cool Breeze Court in Pasadena. The mini house-like structure, similar to those used to drop off and pick up books across the country, is where people can leave food donations and others can take those items when needed. In fact, Caring Cupboard formed a partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Libraries to establish the first Little Free Pantry at Linthicum Community Library. The other Little Free Pantry is located at Glen Burnie Church of the Nazarene.
President of Caring Cupboard, Chuck Yocum, told the Baltimore Sun that the Little Free Pantry spots are important, especially now, because "they give folks immediate access to what they need."

“They’re also wonderful, and that’s a community who may not have access to one of our donation sites. (They) can visit a little free pantry and add a few items and be just as helpful as someone who delivers something to a donation site," said Yocum.
