Man Charged in Bank Robbery Nabbed in Pa. Diner: Police

The "bomb" left by the robber in Monday's heist in Pasadena was fake, say Anne Arundel police.

With the help of Anne Arundel police detectives, the Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday tracked down and arrested a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery in Pasadena that involved a fake explosive.

The State Police apprehended Steven Joseph Murn, 48, of no fixed address, at a diner in Chambersburg, Pa., according to the Anne Arundel police. He has been charged by Anne Arundel authorities with armed robbery and threatening to use an explosive device, among other charges stemming from the robbery reported Monday at the Hamilton Bank in Pasadena.

Murn also faces charges in Pennsylvania for aggravated assault, threats, drug possession and resisting arrest, the police said. The Anne Arundel State's Attorney's office has begun the process to extradite Murn back to Maryland to face the charges stemming from the bank robbery.

The county police responded at about 3:39 p.m. Monday to the report of a robbery at the Hamilton Bank, at 8108 Jumpers Hole Road, according to a police statement. The robber fled in a dark-colored vehicle with an undetermined amount of cash before the police arrived.

During the heist, the robber walked up to a teller and placed what he said was an explosive device on the service counter, the police said. They called the Anne Arundel Fire Department, which "determined that the suspicious device was not a bomb and rendered it safe," according to the statement.

After checking the scene, county police detectives identified a suspect in the robbery, and learned "he was possibly headed into Pennsylvana," the statement added. The Anne Arundel Police Department's Fugitive Apprehension Team assisted in the investigation and notified the Pennsylvania State Police about the suspect's whereabouts.

The Anne Arundel police said that Murn has a former address on Mount Desert Harbour in Pasadena.
