Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Members Honored At Annual Meeting

Members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company were recognized at the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association's meeting.

ODENTON, MD — Several past and present members of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association were honored at the group's annual convention, including a few from Odenton. The association also celebrated 90 years of service at the convention, which was hosted by the AACVFA, the Galesville Volunteer Fire Company, the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) and the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Company and held earlier this month.

Attendees enjoyed a special dinner for past presidents of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association and its Ladies Auxiliary on Sept. 3. An annual memorial service held Sept. 4 recognized 25 members who passed away since last year's convention. A special recognition was also held for the 19 volunteer and career firefighters who died in the line of duty since records were maintained.

The annual meeting held on Sept. 6 included recognizing several individuals for their work. President William Peterson was inducted posthumously into the AACVFA Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for those who have given a lifetime of volunteer service to their community. Sean McKeever was selected as the Greg Kroft Rookie of the Year, an award recognizing the contributions of new members at their very early stages of a volunteer career.
