Extra police officers were at Northeast High School in Pasadena Monday after a threat was made on social media, charges have been filed.

PASADENA, MD — Extra police officers are at Northeast High School in Pasadena Monday after a threat was made on social media by a teen who told Anne Arundel County Police it was a joke. The department received a report about 10:30 p.m. Sunday of a social media post which threatened the school.
Officers went to the home of the 16-year-old boy who was responsible for the post, and talked with the teen and his parents; he has no association with the school. The youth told investigators the post was a bad joke and he realized this several minutes after posting, so he quickly deleted the post.
Police say the teen did not have the means to carry out his threat and there is no danger to the school. The youth has been taken a local hospital, where he remains. The suspect was charged Monday as a juvenile with making threats of mass violence and disturbing school operations, a police department spokesman said. He has been released to the custody of his parents.
