Pasadena Man Charged With Setting Fire To Local Bar
A 34-year-old Pasadena man has been charged in U.S. District Court with setting fire to the popular Coconut Charlie's bar in town in 2017.
PASADENA, MD — A Pasadena man has been officially charged with setting fire to Coconut Charlie's in July 2017. Jamie Clemons, 34, has been taken into custody and charged with burning the bar to the ground. He made an initial appearance in U.S. District Court Sept. 12 and was ordered detained pending a detention hearing.
Coconut Charlie's owner Chris Welsh told 11 News in 2017 that he knew the fire had been purposely set. Clemons was a regular at the bar. The fire was set on the side of the building at approximately 3 a.m. and it quickly spread to the attic.
A firefighter was hurt after falling off a ladder, and damage to the building and its contents was estimated at more than $200,000. The bar remains closed two years later.

If convicted, Clemons also faces up to $250,000 in fines.
