Pasadena Man Dies In Crash With MTA Bus
A Pasadena man died when his car crashed into an MTA bus; his passenger was seriously injured, police say.

PASADENA, MD — A speeding car slammed into an MTA bus in the Pasadena area Thursday afternoon, killing the driver of the 2008 Chevrolet Impala and seriously injuring his passenger. Anne Arundel County Police say the bus was empty at the time, other than the driver.
The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. on Fort Smallwood Road (MD-173) at Energy Parkway. A northbound MTA bus attempted to turn left onto Energy Parkway and was struck in the passenger side by a southbound 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The impact of the crash pushed the bus onto the center median.
The driver of the Impala — Corey James Ferrell, 22, of Pasadena — was declared dead at the scene and his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. Ferrell's passenger — Jakob T. Quasney, 24, of Pasadena — was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries, authorities say.

Bus driver James R. Owens Jr., 30, of Baltimore, was not injured and there were no passengers on the bus.
The primary cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police say excessive speed by Ferrell is suspected as a major contributing factor. Any charges will be filed after review by the State’s Attorney.
