Pasadena Man Involved In Ocean City Altercation Over A Shark
A 30-year-old man from Pasadena engaged in a verbal exchange, which quickly escalated, about a shark he caught from the pier in Ocean City.
OCEAN CITY, MD — A Pasadena man faces weapons charges after police say he was involved in an altercation at the Ocean City Fishing Pier July 3. At approximately 11:15 p.m., a bicycle patrol officer responded to a report of a man pulling a knife and threatening another man.
Shawn Drummond, 41, of Pittsburgh, Pa., reportedly brandished a knife at Pasadena resident Kevin Hudler, 30. Drummond told officers that he pulled a knife on Hudler in self defense because Hudler had pulled a gun on him. According to police, Drummond later recanted and told police he didn't think he touched his knife.
Drummond's juvenile son told officers that Hudler did not remove his gun from its holster but lifted his shirt to show it to Drummond. Hudler told officers that he possessed a permit to carry and handed over both his weapon, his Maryland concealed carry permit, his Maryland security officer license, a Maryland private detective permit and his driver's license. However, Hudler's permit to carry a concealed weapon had restrictions limiting him to carrying his Glock only while traveling to and from work.

Hudler responded by lifting his shirt to reveal his handgun in the hopes of deterring Drummond's advances and the other man eventually left. Two witnesses in the area confirmed Hudler's version of events, the police said. Drummond was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault and carrying a deadly weapon with intent to injure. Hudler was arrested for carrying a handgun and carrying a loaded handgun on his person.
