Pasadena Resident Runs Boston Marathon

The 2012 Boston Marathon began Monday and a Pasadena resident is one of the runners making the 26.2-mile trek. 

Amy Blanch, 38, of Pasadena is participating in the 116th running of the race on Patriots Day in Boston, according to the Boston Marathon's database.

The race features elite runners from all over the world and each participant must qualify in order to race. 

ABC News reported that temperatures in Boston were expected to rise into the 80s, forcing 4,300 runners to sit out.

According to USA Today, Wesley Korir of Kenya won the Boston Marathon with a time of 2:12:40. That time is more than five minutes behind the world's best time. USA Today reported that heat may have played a factor.
