Bystander, 78, Killed In Lansdowne Shooting: Police

Police said that the shooter was firing at someone else when a woman was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in Lansdowne.

LANSDOWNE, MD — A bystander was killed when a shooter fired at someone else in a parking lot in Lansdowne Thursday afternoon, according to police. Authorities said the shooting happened at the Lansdowne Shopping Center.

Isabel Villalobos V De Vasquez, 78, of the 400 block of Bagley Avenue in Halethorpe, was identified as the deceased.

At 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, police said she was shot in the upper body at least once and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators think she was hit inadvertently as the suspect aimed for another target.

The suspected gunman fired toward at least one other man across the parking lot in front of Save Mart in the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Road, police said. After the shooting, the suspect left the scene, according to officials.

Hollins Ferry Road was closed at 5th Avenue for the crime scene investigation.

It's the second time that a violent crime was reported in this area in less than two weeks. On Easter Sunday, there was a nonfatal stabbing that also closed off the parking lot near the shopping center.
