Cemetery Shooting: Second Man Dies At Hospital, Police Say

BREAKING: A man who had been hospitalized following the shooting at Mount Zion Cemetery has died, according to authorities.

Two days after the shooting at Mount Zion Cemetery, police reported a second man has died. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center Wednesday in critical condition, following what officials said was a targeted shooting at the cemetery in Lansdowne.

Police said Friday afternoon that Montrell Johnson, 25, of the 2800 block of Westfield Avenue, died.

Johnson was one of two shot at the Mount Zion Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Officials said they were called to the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Road for a report of a shooting at 12:43 p.m. on Wednesday.

Gunfire rang out before the funeral for 18-year-old Marcus Brown, who was shot and killed Aug. 25 in the 1400 block of North Mount Street in Baltimore City, police said.

Officials said that the crowd was gathering for Brown's service at Mount Zion Cemetery when a cluster of men branched off from larger group, and gunshots ensued.

Maurice Brown Jr., 32, of the 300 block of Lyndhurst Street, died Wednesday as a result of the shooting, officials said. He was attending the funeral service for his brother when he was shot, according to Fox 45.

Both Brown and Johnson had been shot in the upper body, according to police.

Police said that the crime was targeted, and there was no further danger to the public.
