• Food and culture meet at Maryland nonprofit serving African immigrant communities (wtop.com) — Every Friday morning in an Aspen Hill parking lot, AfriThrive hands out fresh, culturally familiar produce to immigrant families who struggle with grocery costs. The nonprofit grows much of its food locally and is launching a “Food as Medicine” program to connect residents with clinicians and dietician-approved foods that reflect diverse African cuisines. 
• Montgomery County sees uptick in car thefts; police say its tied to viral online videos (wjla.com) — Aspen Hill is one of several Montgomery County hotspots in a 20% surge in car thefts this year, with more than 1,500 incidents reported. Police say viral videos showing how to exploit security weaknesses are fueling the problem, and many suspects are juveniles, prompting calls to address root causes rather than just increase policing.
