14 Maryland Colleges Make Money's Best Colleges List For 2019
Money magazine released its 2019 rankings of the best colleges based on value, and 14 in Maryland make the grade.
MARYLAND — Money magazine has ranked the best colleges for 2019, and 14 in Maryland made it onto the list. To be included in Money’s rankings, colleges had to meet certain criteria like having a graduation rate at or above the median and having at least 500 students.
Annually the magazine evaluates colleges based on quality, affordability and outcomes. Each category was weighted equally.
Overall, it included 744 colleges in its rankings.

Here's how Maryland colleges stacked up on Money's 2019-20 best colleges list:
- No. 43 — University of Maryland, College Park
- No. 107 — Towson University, Towson
- No. 125 — Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore
- No. 169 — St. Mary's College of Maryland, St. Mary's City
- No. 173 — McDaniel College, Westminster
- No. 190 — Salisbury University, Salisbury
- No. 303 — Loyola University Maryland, Baltimore
- No. 366 — University of Maryland, Baltimore County
- No. 414 — Washington College, Chestertown
- No. 531 — Hood College, Frederick
- No. 567 — Bowie State University, Bowie
- No. 583 — Goucher College, Towson
- No. 655 — Mount St. Mary's University Emmitsburg
- No. 699 —Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore
To identify colleges that best combine quality and affordability, Money looked at data such as six-year graduation rates, amount of student debt and alumni salaries 10 years after graduation.
