2 Baltimore Eateries Among America's Best Brunch Spots: OpenTable

Two Baltimore hotspots made it onto OpenTable's list of 'top 100 brunch restaurants' for 2017.

BALTIMORE, MD — Two Baltimore restaurants are among the top 100 brunch spots in America, according to OpenTable.

Gertrude's and Regi's American Bistro made the cut for the 2017 list, released this week before Mother's Day.

The online reservation hub sifted through more than 10 million reviews from its users to determine the best restaurants for a midday/mid-morning meal. OpenTable then ranked the restaurants by overall score and those with "great for brunch" checked off as a descriptor.

More than 24,000 restaurants in the U.S. were considered for the list.

In addition to Gertrude's and Regi's, two other Maryland eateries — Iron Rooster in Annapolis and The Comus Inn at Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson — were on OpenTable's list of top 100 brunch spots.

"Brunch has become as synonymous with Mother's Day celebrations as it has the weekend, and the repertoire of dishes associated with the midday meal has expanded exponentially," OpenTable Chief Dining Officer Caroline Potter said in a statement with the list's release. "No longer an after-thought, this meal at these winning restaurants has become a showcase for culinary diversity..."

Crowdpleasers are the cream of crab soup and crab imperial at Gertrude's, which is located in the Baltimore Museum of Art. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

At Regi's American Bistro, OpenTable reviewers highlighted Bloody Marys, tater tots and "familiar brunch items with a twist" as specialties of the rowhouse restaurant, which holds brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gertrude's is at 10 Art Museum Drive and Regi's American Bistro is at 1002 Light Street.
