Investigators will be canvassing area of shooting Thursday morning in hopes of identifying the gunman.
BALTIMORE, MD — Police said six people were shot, two of them fatally, outside a storefront in northwest Baltimore Wednesday night in an act of violence that may be retaliatory.
Davon Dozier, 29, and Troy Smothers, 23, were identified as the deceased, according to officials. Four others were hospitalized, police said.
With the gunman still at large, investigators announced plans to canvass the area Thursday morning for leads in the case.

Authorities said they found a mass casualty incident at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday on Duvall Avenue at Garrison Boulevard. One victim reportedly tried to seek refuge in the nearby 1 Stop grocery/deli while the others crossed the street and collapsed.
"A lone gunman came around the corner and fired upon the people that were standing out in front of the business at the time," according to Baltimore Police Chief of Media Relations TJ Smith, who described their conditions as follows:

- One man was shot multiple times and pronounced deceased at the scene.
- Another man was shot multiple times and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
- Two men and one woman were hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
- One man was in critical condition at a hospital.
Preliminarily, Smith said the act appeared to be retaliatory, possibly connected to a murder that occurred in the same area in recent days. "We do believe that this incident is connected possibly to an earlier incident," Smith said.
The suspect was described as an apparent black male wearing dark clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt, who was last seen running on Edgewood Street, Smith said. There were no witnesses.
"We need people that might have seen someone running from this location," he said.
"I have to make a plea to families once again," added Smith, speaking to reporters near the spot where one of the deceased still laid covered.
"You know if your child, you know if your boyfriend, your baby father, your husband, your cousin, your brother is up to no good. You need to get 'em before these streets get 'em and we knock at your door," Smith said. "The police can't be everywhere all the time....We have to do something about it collectively."
