2 Die In Baltimore From Coronavirus: MD Health Officials

Two Baltimore residents were among the 21 coronavirus-related deaths reported Wednesday, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

BALTIMORE, MD — Two Baltimore women were among 21 people in Maryland who died from the new coronavirus, state health officials reported Wednesday. Overall 124 deaths statewide have been linked to COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

A woman in her 70s and a woman over 80 are the latest Baltimore residents whose lives were lost to the illness, officials said.

So far there are 571 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Baltimore City and 5,529 cases statewide, according the Maryland Department of Health.

The most cases are in Prince George's (1,310), Montgomery (1,088) and Baltimore counties (866), with Baltimore City home to the fourth-highest concentration, followed by Anne Arundel County (466).

Prince George's County has reported the most deaths with 32 so far from COVID-19, trailed by Montgomery County with 26, Carroll County with 18, Baltimore County with 13, Anne Arundel County with 11 and Baltimore City with 10.

Other counties where people have died from the virus in Maryland include Frederick, with four deaths; Howard with three deaths; Calvert and Charles counties with two deaths each; and Cecil, Talbot and Wicomico, where one person died in each county.

The first deaths in Baltimore were reported Saturday, March 28.
