2 Baltimore County Officers Struck In Baltimore Hit And Run: PD
Police said that two officers were hit by a vehicle Friday on Caton Avenue near Wilkens Avenue while trying to serve a warrant.
BALTIMORE, MD — Police said that two Baltimore County officers were injured in a hit-and-run crash Friday while trying to serve an arrest warrant in southwest Baltimore City. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to officials.
After a canvass of the area, the wanted man was taken into custody, but authorities said the driver of the vehicle that hit the officers had not been located Friday night.
The crash occurred around 10:50 a.m. on Friday, March 29, on Caton Avenue south of Wilkens Avenue, according to police.

Two officers were treated for minor injuries at St. Agnes Hospital, which was right near the scene of the crime, and a third declined treatment, according to Officer Jen Peach, spokeswoman for the Baltimore County Police Department.
The police were part of a Warrant Apprehension Task Force, which includes officers from both Baltimore City and Baltimore County; they work together to serve warrants in the two jurisdictions, Peach explained.

Three officers on the task force who had been in an unmarked minivan pulled in front of a white Kia containing a wanted man on South Caton Avenue, and when they got out to serve the warrant, police said the car accelerated. The Kia went up on the sidewalk to pass the minivan, hitting and injuring two officers, then took off south on South Caton Avenue, officials said.
The officers were outside their vehicle when they were hit, Peach told Patch.
The three Baltimore County detectives who had been in the minivan fired shots at the Kia, shattering its rear window, according to authorities.
After officers and police helicopters canvassed the area, they said they found the suspect vehicle in the 300 block of Melvin Avenue in Catonsville with nobody inside.
The man who was wanted was arrested nearby on Melvin Avenue, and police said he was taken into custody without incident and had not been injured in the incident.
As of Friday night, officials reported the driver of the Kia remained at large, and his condition was unknown.

After noon, Caton Avenue was closed between St. Agnes Hospital and Wilkens Avenue, north of Benson Avenue, for the investigation.
