4 Plead Guilty To Charges Stemming From Brooklyn Day Mass Shooting

Two people were killed and dozens were injured when shots were fired at a July block party in Baltimore's Brooklyn Homes housing project.

BALTIMORE, MD — A 19-year-old man was ordered to spend 12 years in prison for his role in last year's mass shooting at a block party at the Brooklyn Homes housing project in Baltimore, according to court records and a report.

Aaron Brown pleaded guilty Friday to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the July 2 shooting, according to online court records. He also pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence in connection to an unrelated shooting.

Brown's conviction comes just days after three others pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the shooting that killed 18-year-old Aaliyah Gonzalez and 20-year-old Kylis Fagbemi.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old each pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and weapons charges, according to court records. They were sentenced to 25 years in prison with 20 years suspended, plus five years probation, the Baltimore Banner reported.

A fourth person — 18-year-old Mikhi Jackson — pleaded guilty to possession of a regulated firearm by a person under 21, court records said. He was sentenced to five years in prison with four years suspended, plus two years probation, the Banner reported.

A fifth person — 18-year-old Tristan Jackson — also faces more than 50 counts related to the shooting, according to court records. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 7.

The shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. when at least two people opened fire at a party at the Brooklyn Homes public housing complex, located in the southern part of the city, according to authorities.

Police Commissioner Richard Worley previously said it wasn't clear if the shooting was targeted or random.

The shooting victims ranged in age from 13 to 32 years old, and 15 were minors, police said.
