4 Schools Closed After Fire At Edmondson Village Shopping Center

Multiple schools were closed in Baltimore City as the result of a three-alarm fire at the Edmondson Village Shopping Center.

BALTIMORE, MD โ€” Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at the Edmondson Village Shopping Center for hours Friday morning, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department. Ten businesses were affected, and four schools were closed as a result, officials said.

Crews said they found flames through the roof and a partial roof collapse when they were called to the shopping center in the 4500 block of Edmondson Avenue in the early hours Friday morning. Nobody was injured.

After 6:30 a.m., authorities said firefighters were still dousing the blaze while BGE tried to turn off a gas line.

Four schools were closed Friday because of roads blocked and low water pressure as a result of the fire, according to Baltimore City Public Schools:

  • Edmondson-Westside High School
  • Thomas Jefferson Elementary/Middle School
  • Wildwood Elementary/Middle School
  • Baltimore International Academy WEST

School officials noted that other students who take yellow buses or the MTA bus to school may experience additional delays this morning because of the fire activity.
