50 MPH Wind Gusts Possible; 2 MD Bridges Under Wind Warnings
Strong winds are expected across the region Wednesday, prompting alerts from weather and transportation officials.
Watch out for flying objects. Wind gusts Wednesday afternoon may reach 50 mph in parts of Maryland.
A wind advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. for Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties as well as Baltimore City.
West winds will be about 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph projected, the advisory states. Tree limbs may fall, and some power outages are possible as a result of powerful winds, according to the National Weather Service, which recommended securing items outside that may be blown about during the blustery period.

Drivers should be extra careful on the roads, particularly if they are behind the wheel of a high-profile vehicle. Use two hands on the steering wheel to maintain control during periods of high winds and reduce speed.
Wind warnings are in effect on the Bay and Key bridges, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported before 1:30 p.m. Winds of 30 to 39 mph trigger wind warnings.

During a wind warning, drivers of these vehicles should use extra caution while crossing bridges: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.
Wind gusts were 47 mph on the Key Bridge after 1:30 p.m., according to state weather station data.
A wind advisory for Cecil County and the Eastern Shore is in effect until 10 p.m.
