Amber Alert Canceled: 4-Year-Old Found In Virginia, Police Say

Police said a 4-year-old was found after his father allegedly abducted him from southeast Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD — A 4-year-old boy has been found unharmed, according to Maryland State Police, who had issued an Amber alert on his behalf Monday afternoon. The child was found in Virginia, police reported.

Before that, officials had issued a lookout for Adonis Cruz-Reyes, 36, and Diland Cruz-Hernandez, 4. They were last seen in a dark-colored 1999 Jeep Cherokee with a Virginia plate that said "KEILA5" in south Baltimore, police said.

Officers began searching for Cruz-Reyes and the child after the mother called police around 1 p.m. Monday to report Cruz-Reyes assaulted her and stole her phone, then left with their little boy. Police said the abduction occurred in the 1200 block of Broening Highway.

Shortly after that, authorities said they suspected Cruz-Reyes was in a hit-and-run crash on Fleet at Washington streets, where he left the scene before officers arrived.

Cruz-Reyes is wanted for robbery, assault, violating a protective order, and traffic charges related to the crash, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Maryland State Police said the Amber alert was canceled after 5 p.m. once Diland Cruz-Hernandez was found safel in Virginia.
