Artscape Draws Crowds Amid Heat Wave

BALTIMORE, MD — Organizers of Artscape rolled out a new footprint for the massive arts festival, and thousands took to the streets to explore it. The theme for 2019 is "Discover," inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon.

Umbrellas, parasols and fans mixed in with throngs of people, and crowds gathered in misting tents where water was intended to spray those inside. However, several people remarked that the water seemed to evaporate before even hitting them because the heat was so intense.

Despite the fact that the area was under an excessive heat warning, those in Baltimore turned out for the annual festival, which centered around Charles Street, from North Avenue to Mount Royal.
