Baltimore Bakery To Close Both Locations This Spring

The business started in 2020 and later expanded to a second location in Baltimore's Hamilton neighborhood.

BALTIMORE, MD — Maillard Patisserie announced this week that both of its Baltimore locations will close this spring.

The bakery, which has stores in Baltimore's Hampden and Hamilton neighborhoods, will close in early May, owner Caitlin Kiehl wrote on Facebook.

"The reality is, this work can be mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting," Kiehl wrote. "Owning a small business is a 24/7 job, and after 5+ years, I need to take some time off to rest and reset and prioritize time with friends and family."

Maillard opened in 2020, according to the business.

In an interview with The Baltimore Banner, Kiehl said this year was the first time in over five years that Maillard didn’t make more money than the last, yet the costs of ingredients and operations rose in 2025.

“It definitely wasn’t a year of growth,” she told the Banner.

Kiehl said Mallard will remain open through the Easter holiday, and the business is planning some "fun things" before closing. "

"It’s been an incredible journey and the greatest privilege to serve two wonderful Baltimore neighborhoods alongside an amazing staff," she wrote.
