Baltimore Is Home To Maryland's Best Waffles: Food Network

BALTIMORE, MD — OK, breakfast lovers. Food Network has put out a list of the best waffles in every state, and Connie's Chicken and Waffles in Baltimore is the place to go.

Brothers Khari and Shawn Parker have become famous for "succulent chicken tenders piled atop a soft buttermilk waffle dusted in powdered sugar and maple syrup," according to the Food Network, which says they typically cook up their scrumptious fare alongside their mother, Connie.

Connie's Chicken & Waffles has gained such popularity since setting up shop in Lexington Market in 2016 that it opened a second location last year. Now, diners will find Connie's in two locations: Lexington Market and the Charles Plaza; the latter is where Food Network says the Parkers can usually be found.

Connie's also offers cinnamon, chocolate chip, Oreo and red velvet waffles paired with chicken. See the menu.

"We are honored to be included in the Food Network's list for the Best Waffle in Every State," Connie's posted on its Facebook page. "Thanks to all of our customers and the Baltimore/Maryland community (and beyond) for your continued support."

Food Network is not the only national corporation taking note of the delicious waffle dishes that are being made right here in Baltimore. Connie's Chicken & Waffles was also featured in the February edition of Southwest Air magazine, which did a 24-page spread on Baltimore. Of the article, Connie's Chicken and Waffles co-owner Khari Parker told WJZ the intent was to get travelers to read about Charm City in a way they had not seen it previously, to get them thinking: "Hey, I need to check out Baltimore."

The feature in Southwest magazine was entitled "The place you're missing: Baltimore" and had the subtitle: "This might be the most underrated city in America."

Connie's Chicken & Waffles is located at Charles Plaza, 222 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, and is also available for delivery through Uber Eats and GrubHub.

The Lexington Market location is at 400 West Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, with delivery through GrubHub, Postmates and Uber Eats.
