Baltimore Mask Mandate, Restaurant Restrictions Explained
"If you are around other people for any reason, in any setting, you should be wearing a face covering," Baltimore health officials say.
BALTIMORE, MD — New mask requirements are now in effect in Baltimore City.
The Baltimore City Health Department ordered everyone older than 2 to wear face coverings in public places when it is not possible to keep 6 feet of space between themselves and others. It applies to outside and inside spaces, except when people are at home with others in their household.
Officials gave more guidance on the health order, offering the ins and outs for certain situations.

"This is an expansion of the current statewide mask order, which requires face coverings be worn on public transportation, in certain outdoor public spaces, in restaurants, and in retail establishments," city health officials said. "With this new health order in Baltimore, if you are around other people for any reason, in any setting, you should be wearing a face covering."
City officials also prohibited indoor dining until at least Aug. 7 in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.

What are some examples of when to wear or not wear a face-covering?
At Home
Masks are not required if people are in their homes with those who live there.
Going Up The Street/Around The Way
Keep a face covering in a pocket or bag; put your mask on when you are around others and cannot keep 6 feet of distance.
Gyms And Fitness Centers
Face coverings must be worn in fitness centers and gyms.
Exception: Masks may only be removed if one is vigorously exercising and using equipment that is at least 6 feet from another person.
"It is strongly encouraged that any vigorous exercise is done outside when possible," officials said.
Outdoor Fitness Classes And Youth Sports
Masks are required.
Exception: Face coverings are not required for those engaged in solo sports, such as running or biking, when they can keep 6 feet away from others. In a low-contact sport like tennis, masks are not required.
"Keep a face covering in a pocket or bag," officials say, and if people come 6 feet or closer, "put your mask on when around others."
Exception: Individuals who cannot wear face coverings due to a medical condition, mental health condition or disability are not required to wear a mask but must comply with social distancing.
Outdoor Gatherings
People must wear masks at outdoor gatherings like picnics.
Restaurants
Customers must wear masks unless they are seated and eating.
Socially distanced outdoor seating is available, and so are carryout and delivery.
Indoor dining has been discontinued for at least two weeks, until Friday, Aug. 7.
"Further determinations on extending or revoking these restrictions will be based on reviewing data trends during this time period," according to the health department.
