Baltimore New Year's Eve Vigil 2020 Memorializes Homicide Victims

Those who lost their lives to violence were memorialized with a virtual vigil in Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD — To remember those who lost their lives to violence in 2020, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott joined faith leaders, community organizers and other city officials Thursday evening for a New Year's Eve vigil.

Police said 334 people had died by homicide in Baltimore City in 2020 as of Thursday morning. There were 348 homicides in the city last year, officials said.

"We will read the names of Baltimoreans who are no longer with us, and recommit ourselves to the work of building public safety as a city in the year ahead," Scott said in a statement.
