50-Plus Baltimore Schools Without AC Dismissed Early Due To Heat
Students in Baltimore City without air conditioning were dismissed ahead of schedule Wednesday, Sept. 4.
BALTIMORE, MD — Schools in Baltimore without air conditioning closed early on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Officials made the announcement Wednesday morning and attributed the decision to high temperatures in the forecast.
Dismissal time Wednesday was two hours earlier than scheduled for schools that lacked air conditioning, officials said. The early dismissals applied only at schools where there was no air conditioning or where air-conditioning systems were in disrepair.
The temperature in Baltimore was 90 degrees and felt like it was 96 degrees at 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
