Editor's Note: The Daily Meal had outdated information in its listing of the best breakfast restaurants. Patch has corrected this story.
BALTIMORE, MD — There's so much to love about a great breakfast, from ham, bacon and sausage, to home fries, grits or biscuits. It's all yummy, and let's not forget waffles or pancakes drenched in syrup to give us a sugar rush to go with a caffeine buzz. Breakfast doesn't have to be fancy to be great.
The food writers at The Daily Meal website say breakfast at a restaurant while reading a newspaper can set the tone for the day. In the foodie website's search for the perfect, eye-opening breakfast served at a restaurant in every state, there were certain criteria: Is it open bright and early every morning? Does it serve all the expected classic breakfast dishes, prepared from scratchusing fresh, high-quality ingredients? Does it offer some regional specialties worth exploring, as well as options for the health-conscious? ... And is it beloved by locals and out-of-towners alike?

Here's what The Daily Meal says of the restaurant's breakfast experience:
"If you go to this old-school 28-seat breakfast counter, a longtime Baltimore staple, you don’t need to order what Michael Phelps used to back in his training days — three fried egg sandwiches, an omelette, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast, and three chocolate chip pancakes — but no one can fault you if you do; after all, the versions of these diner classics you’ll receive will be basically perfect."
The restaurant has new owners, Ray and Rachel Brown, who are on the premises daily. Unlike the past owners, the business now accepts credit/debit cards.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
