Bmore Hits 300 Homicides

Three homicides were reported in less than two hours in Baltimore Thursday night, according to police.

BALTIMORE, MD — There have been 300 homicides reported in Baltimore so far this year, after three homicides were reported in the course of an hour and a half Thursday night in the city.

At 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, officials said they responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Mura Street and found a woman in a vacant house who had been shot in the upper body. She was taken to an area hospital, where police said she died from her injuries.

At 7:40 p.m., officers said they responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of South Collins Avenue and found a 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said an unknown suspect approached and shot the victim, who was outside at the time, then left. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died.

At 7:20 p.m., police said that a man was found shot multiple times in the 5400 block of Moores Run Drive when officials responded to a report of a shooting. The 31-year-old man was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, police reported.

Baltimore may soon surpass its homicide total from last year. There were 318 homicides in Baltimore in 2016, according to the FBI.

The official data from the Baltimore City Police Department shows that there were 293 homicides in Baltimore as of Saturday, Oct. 28.

Between Oct. 29 and the morning of Nov. 2, police said these four homicides were also reported:

  • On Oct. 29 at approximately 2:04 a.m., police found 17-year-old Anthony Cheeks in the 1300 block of West Lafayette Avenue unresponsive from gunshot wounds to the upper body.
  • On Oct. 30 at approximately 8 p.m., officers called to the 5400 block of Bucknell Road for a report of a shooting found a 26-year old man with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
  • On Oct. 31 around 2:40 p.m., officers were called to the 5300 block of Cordelia Avenue for a report of a shooting and found a 54-year old man with gunshot wounds who was taken to an area hospital, where he also died from his injuries.
  • On Nov. 2, 2017 at approximately 2:14 a.m., police said a 54-year-old woman died in the 1000 block of East Northern Parkway after witnesses said she jumped in front of a vehicle. Medics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
