BALTIMORE, MD — Bruce Springsteen has postponed his remaining September concerts due to peptic ulcer disease, according to the singer-songwriter. That includes upcoming shows set for Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

The announcement comes less than a month after he postponed Philadelphia concerts that were scheduled for Aug. 16 and Aug. 18 due to an unspecified illness. Those two concerts have been rescheduled for Aug. 21 and Aug. 23, 2024 at Citizens Bank Park. It's unclear if peptic ulcer disease played a factor in the Philadelphia postponement.

In announcing the most recent postponement, Springsteen cited his medical advisors advice for rescheduling the concerts.

The Boss was scheduled to perform in Baltimore on Sept. 9, and Washington, D.C., on Sept. 29, along with Pittsburgh, Albany, and more cities during the month of September.

According to the Mayo Clinic, peptic ulcers are open sores that develop on the inside lining of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine. The most common symptom of a peptic ulcer is stomach pain.

"The most common causes of peptic ulcers are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve)," according to the Mayo Clinic. "Stress and spicy foods do not cause peptic ulcers. However, they can make your symptoms worse."

Fans with tickets for the postponed September concerts will be informed of rescheduled dates.

His tour site urges fans to hold on to their tickets and check back for updates.

Springsteen said he and the E Street Band are "heartbroken to have to postpone these shows," and apologized for missing the two Philadelphia concerts.

"First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago," Springsteen said.

"We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some," Springsteen said. "Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon."
