Breaking News: Mt. Vernon Marketplace to Close at the End of August, says "Charm'tastic Mile"
August 18, 2025 - The "Charm'tastic Mile" of Baltimore (CTMB-1.3) www.thecharmtasticmile.com. The chic & famed 1.3 mile corridor located in the heart of Charm City (Est.1975) that connects Dwtn-West, the Inner Harbor & Harbor East (S. Greene & W. Pratt Street to S. President & Fleet Street) that is now listed on Google search as one of the Top 10-15 Most Famous Streets in America is reporting Breaking News: Mt Vernon Marketplace located at 550 Park Avenue will be closing its doors at the end of the month.
The "Charm'tastic Mile", the Iconic 1.3 mile stretch in the heart of Dwtn-B'more was contacted by a store vendor that Mt. Vernon Marketplace (Food Court) would be closing at the end of August. Rent-stall increases by 35% made vendors feel that new ownership of the building would be moving in a different direction. The sudden & abrupt closing is a sign that Mt. Vernon needs a "New Renaissance" and should be aided by the city. This was information that was obtained this past Sunday afternoon.
Mt. Vernon Marketplace officially opened on Wednesday October 14, 2015 as a 15,000 square-foot oasis with various vendors supplying food options, beer tasting taps and business-retail. The concept was likened to New York, SoHo styled culture in a historic downtown-Charm City setting.
10-years ago that was the plan and today things are different. There's the Baltimore Peninsula, Harbor Point and the very chic & trendy Harbor East that offer Mt Vernon residents more dining and culture options. The Mt. Vernon's glory days of the mid 1980's to early 2000's where there was constant foot-traffic and couples catching a cab on Charles Street in a "Baltimore Minute" is gone.
