Oriole Park 34th Anniv. & the MLB Mile-2-Mile Series "Charm'tastic" O's vs Magnificent White Sox
April 6, 2026 - The "Charm'tastic Mile" of Baltimore (CTMB-1.3) www.thecharmtasticmile.com. The chic & famed 1.3 mile corridor located in the heart of Charm City (Est.1975) that connects Dwtn-West, the Inner Harbor & Harbor East (S. Greene & W. Pratt Street to S. President & Fleet Street) that is now listed on Google search as one of the Top 10-15 Most Famous Streets in America is reporting today is the 34th Anniversary (4-6-1992) of the opening of Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
On this day 34-years ago Orioles Park at Camden Yards opened ushering in the 1st of the retro-modern MLB ballparks. The Birds since 1954 had played at Memorial Stadium on 33rd Street. Now they were in the heart of downtown Charm City, minutes from the Inner Harbor. They also introduced a new sports economy to the City of Baltimore.
The Orioles defeated the then Cleveland Indians 2-0 to open Oriole Park. The O's would defeat Cleveland in their first and final game #162 of the season 4-3 in 13 innings . Both were home games. Baltimore finished the '92 campaign 89-73. The MLB consisted of 26-teams in 1992, 14 American League & 12 National League. The next season (1993) saw two expansion NL teams, the Colorado Rockies & Florida (Miami) Marlins. The league now has 28 teams, 14 in each league.
MLB expanded in 1998 with the Arizona Diamonbacks (NL) and Tampa Bay Rays (AL). The MLB currently is a 30-team league, 15-teams in the AL & NL.
