
Celebrate the power of storytelling at the 10th annual Books in Bloom festival on Saturday, May 9 at Color Burst Park. Hosted by The Downtown Columbia Partnership and Howard Hughes Communities and sponsored by the Columbia Association, this free, family-friendly event brings the community together for a day of books, creativity and culture, with a special focus on local authors and emerging teen voices.
Attendees can browse a vibrant Local Author Village, shop an outdoor bookstore hosted by Busboys & Poets, and pick up Navigating the Margins – a collection of short stories written by Howard County Public School Students.
Enjoy a full lineup of activities for all ages, including:
- Captivating readings, engaging discussions and interactive activities
- Generation Verse, featuring readings and spoken word from high school and middle school authors
- A pop-up flower shop hosted by Calluna Flower truck
- Community Book Swap: Bring a pre-loved book to swap
- Reading Garden with crafts, face painting and glitter tattoos
- Future is in Bloom DIY author covers
- Creator Labs to discover storytelling through podcasting, vlogging and illustration
- Wine and cocktail bars hosted by Cured, 18th & 21st and GameOn
The first 100 guests will receive a special anniversary giveaway. Book clubs can also register for a VIP meet-up at 11 a.m. featuring complimentary refreshments and exclusive giveaways.
