June 14, 2026 - The "Charm'tastic Mile" of Baltimore (CTMB-1.3) www.thecharmtasticmile.com. The chic & famed 1.3 mile corridor located in the heart of Charm City (Est.1975) that connects Dwtn-West, the Inner Harbor & Harbor East (S. Greene & W. Pratt Street to S. President & Fleet Street) that is now listed on Google search as one of the Top 10-15 Most Famous Streets in America is reporting the NY Knicks are the 2026 NBA Champions. Their 1st in 53-years, the last-season of the Baltimore Bullets (1972-73.
As the great Etta James once sang "At Last", the NY Knicks are NBA Champions as they defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game-5 of the NBA Finals. The NYK came back again in the 4th quarter to win a Championship fans and the city have been waiting for 53-years. Knicks team-leader Jalen Brunson, Michael Jordan or LeBron-like put the team on his back and scored an amazing 45-points to secure a Knicks Championship. Brunson was named Finals MVP.
The Baltimore Bullets had a 52-30 record for the 1972-73 regular-season. They faced the NY Knicks in the semifinals of the Eastern Division playoffs. New York (4-1) defeated Baltimore in 5-games. The last game as the Baltimore Bullets was on April 8, 1973 a loss 109-99.
The Bullets only win of the series was Game-3, 97-89 here in Baltimore at the old Civic Center that is known today as CFG Bank Arena. The 1972-73 Bullets won their 3rd consecutive Central Division Championship prior to the move of the D.C. suburbs. The franchise is known today as the Washington Wizards (since 1997).
One of the Bullets big-moves prior to the season was getting star forward/center Elvin Hayes via trade from the Houston Rockets. The Bullets would now have the 1st & 2nd overall picks from the 1968 NBA Draft. Hayes was #1 overall from the University of Houston and Wes Unseld was #2 from Louisville. Hayes led the '72-73 Baltimore Bullets in scoring at 21.2 ppg and was 2nd in rebounding at 14.5 (1st Unseld 15.9).
Unseld is the last-player (1969) in NBA history to win Rookie of the Year and league MVP during the same-season. He joined Wilt Chamberlain (1960) as the only other NBA player to accomplish the incredible feat. Chamberlain retired after the '72-73 season when his LA Lakers lost to the Knicks (4-1) in the Finals
Congrats to the New York Knicks for winning the 2026 NBA Finals. Their 1st since 1973, the last-season of the Baltimore Bullets will forever be a footnote in NBA history.
