Central District Closed After Employee Illness: Baltimore Police

Police said that employees were moved to headquarters out of an abundance of caution.

BALTIMORE, MD — The Central District police station was temporarily closed Thursday night after an employee reported feeling sick, authorities said. General services personnel attributed the issue to a crack in a sewage vent pipe.

While officials investigated the situation, the station was temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution, according to the Baltimore Police Department's Central District.

Officers assigned to the district were relocated to police headquarters in the 600 block of East Fayette Street.

The Baltimore City Health Department ensured there were no environmental hazards at the Central District, which is located in the 500 block of East Baltimore Street.

Police patrols in the Central District continued and were not disrupted, according to authorities, who announced the closure after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27.
