City Of Baltimore: Mayor's Office Of Employment Development To Expand Community Job Hub Network

BALTIMORE, MD (Wednesday, October 13, 2021) - Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) are seeking to expand the Community Job Hubs Network and establish relationships with qualified partner organizations to better help Baltimore residents find meaningful employment. 

The Community Job Hubs are a partnership between MOED and high-traffic, community-based nonprofits. MOED provides a trained employment specialist, who works for free at the partner organization and offers job placement assistance and other workforce services to Baltimore City residents who come to the site. 

“In alignment with my goal of expanding access to employment opportunities for our residents, the Community Job Hub Network has helped nearly 8,000 Baltimoreans achieve their employment and career goals since 2012, and we are determined to increase its impact,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “By expanding the Network, we will strengthen Baltimore’s economy — delivering essential job training and employment services to residents and communities who need them the most.” 

Community Job Hubs currently exist at Bon Secours, GEDCO, and My Brother’s Keeper. MOED staff help residents prepare their resume, look for a job, enroll in training, and access support services including web-based learning tools, referral to occupational skills training, and partner services.

“We’re excited to partner with trusted organizations in our community to provide inclusive opportunities for jobs, training, and support services to residents throughout our city,” said MOED’s Director, Jason Perkins-Cohen.

Mayor Scott has named putting Baltimoreans back to work and expanding workforce development supports top priorities of his administration. This initiative is part of the Mayor’s larger strategy to use community-based resources to connect residents to available job opportunities.

Nonprofits are strongly encouraged to apply to join the Community Job Hubs Network. Nonprofit organizations interested in becoming partner sites should request a Partner Site Questionnaire from CJH@oedworks.com and return it by October 29, 2021.
